Congratulations to Michael Paredes, RN, recipient of this month’s Exemplary Employee Award for Community Hospital of Huntington Park. The new award recognizes employee commitment to patients, family and co-workers through acts of caring, compassion and excellent customer service.

Paredes joined Huntington Park in May 2016 and works on our Med-Surg unit. He was nominated by a co-worker who had this to say:

I would like to share an act of compassion I witnessed.  We had a patient who received a call informing him that the mother of his child was nearing the end of her life, prompting him to sign himself out against medical advice.  Demonstrating exceptional empathy, Michael–the patient’s primary nurse–arranged for transportation for the patient so that he could say goodbye to the mother of his child.

Michael is very easy-going and always has a smile on his face. He makes his patients laugh, always cracking jokes with them or chatting and getting to know them.  His patients say they love him because he is always smiling and laughing. Michael makes their hospital stay more pleasant, and he goes above and beyond for them.

We greatly appreciate Michael’s dedication to his patients. It’s a pleasure to recognize him with the Exemplary Employee Award.

The award carries with it a certificate of recognition, a $100 gift card and use of a premium parking space at our hospital. In addition, each honoree will be featured in our Pulse newsletter as an Exemplary Employee, and honoree photos will be displayed on plaques in a public area of our hospital.
