New Employee Lounge is a Crowd-Pleaser

Employees at Community Hospital of Huntington Park enjoyed some sweet treats along with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new employee lounge. Comfortable tables and chairs, two refrigerators and lockers are among the features of the new employee lounge.

Employees at Community Hospital of Huntington Park now have a place to kick back, enjoy their lunch or take a break, while engaging with one another.

The hospital’s new employee lounge – NAME TO BE ANNOUNCED — opened June 16 with a ribbon-cutting celebration. Leadership identified the need for employees to have a place of their own, and with some moving about, a space formerly occupied by Respiratory Therapy was renovated.

“Many of our employees were eating their lunches in their work spaces,” explained Chief Nursing Officer Colleen Bauer. “They deserve to have a different space to take a break and get away from the space where they work all day.”

The lounge includes a television, microwave and refrigerator, a counter with six bar stools and three tables with four chairs each and lockers. Extension cords are available for employees to plug in their devices.

“The lockers were already there, but our Engineering team and Gustavo Mendoza, our director of security, did an amazing job of stripping them and repainting,” Bauer explained.

“This lounge was a labor of love from many departments and staff.  It took a team to build our new employee lounge. The employees are extremely appreciative of a space they can go to unwind and have a break, and we are so happy to make it available to them.”
